Exciting Updates to the Legends & Learning Program
The Legends & Learning Program is growing! Featuring new inductees, audio spotlights of dream chasers, expanded activities, and more. We are also excited to share the launch of the Legends & Learning Facebook page. This page features Inductee spotlights, program details, an inside look at games to play, and more! The Legends & Learning Facebook page will help us reach a wider audience so that every single classroom in South Dakota can utilize this program.
The Legends & Learning program–an educational program offered through the South Dakota Hall of Fame– is a unique curriculum that will not be found in any current textbooks. The Teacher Section of the L&L site is designed to be used as a resource for teachers using the website with their students. Each of the Discussion Questions and Classroom Activities can be used with any or all of the inductees to enhance student learning.
This program is 100% free for school districts, teachers, and students thanks to our generous supporters.
It’s multimedia, web-based, and not in any textbook. Students like interactive biographies, photos, videos, and activities. We believe that this program provides students with meaningful role models and help youth to chase their dreams.
The year-long curriculum meets state standards in several areas. Students learn about history, vocabulary, and other subjects through the lives of outstanding South Dakotans.
Designed by teachers, the curriculum is geared to 4th grade but is adaptable for students at any level. Includes a teachers’ section with discussion questions and activities useful for all modules.
