Recommendations for 2025 Open Until March 1, 2025
Every day in South Dakota, remarkable acts of dedication and achievement are quietly shaping our state’s future. The Acts of Excellence program, proudly sponsored by Sanford Health, is dedicated to acknowledging these unsung heroes. We spotlight individuals and organizations whose efforts are forging a legacy of excellence in their communities, one inspiring act at a time.
We aim to honor the transformative impact of individual and collective efforts that contribute to the betterment of our communities. South Dakota is a rural state and these Acts of Excellence improve the human condition. By highlighting these stories of excellence, we not only pay tribute to exceptional contributions but also ignite a passion in our youth to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
There is no age limit to performing Acts of Excellence. We are honored to highlight Acts of Excellence from our youth, such as this act from Harrisburg Middle School, or eleven-year-old Emerson Weber, and we encourage individuals to recommend Acts of Excellence being performed by our inspiring youth across the state.
Join us in this journey of appreciation and inspiration, as we enhance the quality of life in South Dakota, celebrating and encouraging a culture of excellence that resonates through every corner of our state.

To apply for the Acts of Excellence Award, individuals submitting a recommendation must provide:
A Detailed Description of the Act(s): Describe the specific actions or series of actions that make the person or organization being recommended stand out in their field.
Impact and Significance: Explain how these actions have positively influenced the community and state.
Leadership Qualities: For individual recommendations, outline their leadership attributes. For organizations, highlight what sets them apart from others.
Three (3) Letters of Recommendation: From individuals who can attest to the contributions and character of the person or organization being recommended.
Optional Supporting Documents: Additional material like articles, certificates, or photographs that further showcase those being recommended for an award.

Successful recommendations will be honored with:
A Commemorative Plaque recognizing their contribution.
Media Recognition across various platforms.
An Awards Ceremony to be announced.
A Year-Long Display at the Visitor and Education Center, showcasing the awardees and their accomplishments.

Recommendations for Acts of Excellence Awards will be reviewed by the South Dakota Hall of Fame Management and the Programming Committee of the South Dakota Hall of Fame Board of Directors. This panel evaluates the impact, influence, and leadership demonstrated by the individual or organization, considering both the application and the letters of recommendation.
