Kathrine “Kitty” Kinsman

Kathrine “Kitty” Kinsman is known for her strong leadership and served as South Dakota's Secretary of Health in both the Mickelson and Janklow administrations. Her commitment to health and wellness for our state is reflected in much of the work she has done through her business, the K Group, as and through her work as a volunteer.

“Mamie” Shields Pyle

“Mamie” Shields Pyle of the South Dakota Universal Franchise League, was one of the main players when it came to the passage of South Dakota’s suffrage amendment in the early 20th century. Patricia Miller is the chair of Her Vote Her Voice Delegation and joined Lorie Walsh with more on “Mamie”.


Bruce Long Fox

Bruce Long Fox is responsible for more than one hundred Native American families having jobs for more than 3 decades as part of his work with Rural America Initiatives.

Glenna Fouberg

Glenna Fouberg is known in South Dakota as "Mrs. Education." Her top achievement is how she has changed lives through her work in alternative education at the district and statewide levels.


Mike Cartney

Mike Cartney has helped transform the state’s technical college system for the past 3 decades. He is currently the president of Lake Area Technical College.


Bernie Hunhoff

Bernie Hunhoff’s commitment to sharing the vibrant stories of South Dakota has been the backdrop for his career in journalism. South Dakota Magazine has brought joy to hundreds of thousands of readers since it’s start in 1985.


Delta David Gier

Since 2004, Delta David has been music director of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. During that period the orchestra has been lauded for its programming, which includes seven American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers awards.


Walter Panziner

Walter Panzirer is a theologian, police officer, paramedic, firefighter, trustee, husband, and father. When his grandmother passed away, he became one of the trustees of the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.


Jack Marsh

Jack Marsh has been a champion for ethics and human rights in South Dakota for decades. 26 years ago, he first moved to the state and took the role of editor of the Argus Leader for Gannett companies. In this role, his commitment to journalism, and ethics, were evident.


Larry Pressler

After two combat tours in Vietnam, Sen. Pressler ran for Congress in 1974 on a shoestring budget, with a positive and clean campaign. His style resonated with South Dakota voters. While not easy, he has demonstrated that you can win by being for something rather than against the opponent.
