South Dakota Hall of Fame to Award Acts of Excellence Recognitions to Two Remarkable Organizations

Sponsored by Sanford Health, the Acts of Excellence Program, offered through the South Dakota Hall of Fame, celebrates individuals and organizations that foster a culture of excellence in South Dakota.

This year's honorees are the First Circuit Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program of Mitchell, and Anthem Oats, the five-generation Sumption family-run agricultural business from Frederick, South Dakota.
Mitchell's CASA Program:
The First Circuit CASA program has been a beacon of hope and stability for foster children in South Dakota for over 20 years. Serving nine counties, CASA volunteers act as vital advocates for abused and neglected children, ensuring their voices are heard in court proceedings and beyond. Nominated by former CASA volunteer Sandi Floyd, the program’s impact has been profound, with volunteers continuously training to provide the best support possible. Circuit Court Judge Bruce Anderson praises CASA for its indispensable role in aiding the court's decision-making process, ultimately leading to better outcomes for children and families.
Anthem Oats:
Anthem Oats, operated by the Sumption family for five generations, exemplifies excellence in sustainable agriculture and community support. Known for their high-quality, nutrient-dense oats, the family business employs regenerative farming practices that benefit the environment. Doug Sombke from the South Dakota Farmers Union highlights their commitment to agriculture and community, while their wide-ranging product line and contributions to local charities underscore their significant impact.
