We are privileged to extend a warm welcome to them as valued members of our esteemed Board of Directors.
These individuals bring a high level of insight and expertise to our Board.
Cathy Clark | Sioux Falls
Cathy Clark is a 37-year veteran of the banking industry, retiring from Wells Fargo in 2018. She began her career in Sioux Falls at First Bank (which later became U.S. Bank), then was recruited to Norwest Bank (which later became Wells Fargo). At Wells Fargo, Cathy served as manager of private and business banking, bank president, and finally, as regional vice president of commercial banking, where she consulted companies with annual revenue between $20 million and $1 billion.
She was the third woman to chair the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce and the second to chair the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. Cathy also co-chaired the Forward Sioux Falls campaign. Cathy has served on numerous boards throughout the state during her career. Upon retirement from banking, Cathy started “Dynamic Consulting LLC” in 2019 and has spent the last five years working on various projects for Avera Health System, advising start-up businesses and mentoring young leaders.
Currently, Cathy is a board member of First Dakota National Bank, a board member of South Dakota Trust Company, and a member of PEO. She and her husband, Steve, have three grown children and three grandchildren. Outside of work, Cathy enjoys traveling, hiking, and reading.
Kitty Kinsman | Rapid City
Kitty Kinsman is a passionate advocate who has used her voice to positively influence the health and quality of life in South Dakota and her community. She is known for her strong leadership and for her ability to energize, engage, and support others to get things done. Kitty’s foray into public policy and advocacy began as part of the high school debate team where she learned to research issues, cultivate persuasive skills, and work in teams.
After attending the University of Colorado, Kitty returned to South Dakota and became the first Chair and volunteer lobbyist for the South Dakota Tourism Caucus. In 1989, Kitty pursued a master’s degree at Stanford University Business School and co-founded a startup in Silicon Valley. Kitty returned to South Dakota in 1996 to pursue her passion for health policy and formed The K Group.
Throughout the years, she has held numerous positions in leadership for charities and nonprofit organizations including the Black Hills Area Community Foundation, LifeScape Foundation, Rapid City Chamber of Commerce, and South Dakota Parks & Wildlife Foundation. Currently, she is a member of the Elevate Rapid City Public Policy Committee, chairs the state Recreational Trails Advisory Council, and was appointed by Governor Kristi Noem to serve on the HER VOTE HER VOICE Centennial delegation.
Shantel Krebs | Pierre
Shantel Krebs has dedicated her life to improving the lives of those around her. Shantel has had a successful career in the healthcare industry, business consulting, and entrepreneurship, a decade in the SD Legislature, and was South Dakota’s 28th Secretary of State. She previously served in the South Dakota House of Representatives and South Dakota Senate. She then created and led the Avera Academy, a pipeline initiative that encourages first-generation American students to develop a passion for careers in healthcare.
In 2014, Shantel took office as the Secretary of State. In this position, Shantel helped restore the confidence of every South Dakotan by completely revamping the office to focus on a service-oriented approach. She also implemented a revolutionary business plan and zero-based budgeting that led to the highest revenues for the office to date and millions of dollars returned to the state’s general fund.
Shantel moved on to become the CEO of the Miss America organization–a role that began as volunteer work. Her leadership evolved the mission to better suit the aspirations of America’s young women and increased scholarship dollars to record levels. As of 2023, Shantel was named Regional President and CEO of Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre. She cares deeply for her home state and her commitment to improving the lives of others will continue well into the future.
