Tolstoy Wind Chiller 5K Celebrated for Excellent Acts

After competing in 5Ks in other communities, friends Katie Nold and Joann Rader set forth to create their own event to raise funds for Labs for Liberty, an organization that provides service dogs for military veterans. The Tolstoy Wind Chiller 5K has been held annually in January since 2015.

Aberdeen Purina Elevator's Christmas Tree Celebrated for Excellent Act

When Steve Geidt was hospitalized and unable to enjoy the Christmas lights of Aberdeen in 2017, his friends and colleagues at Livestock Specialists placed a lighted tree atop the Purina Mills elevator where he could see it from his hospital room window.

Mitch Reed and Cardboard Confessionals Celebrated for Excellent Acts

A school sociology project began when Mitch Reed invited his students at Waverly-South Shore to answer six basic questions about themselves and place their answers in a cardboard box. The project led to a popular first book and launched Reed’s second career as a motivational speaker.
